WORKSHOPS

Workshops are held throughout the year with different themes and focus depending on mood or season. Open for all, with limited seating. Follow on Instagram for upcoming dates.
We also offer private workshops for businesses and groups. These are perfect for an after work, a kick-off or to round off a season of hard work. A selection of red wine and bourbon will be on hand, to steady the nerves.

Pricing and timing depending on scope.

 IKEBANA vs FREAKEBANA

Ikebana is the Japanese art of arranging blossoms, branches, leaves and stems. It is a centuries-old discipline that features spare, off-center compositions positioned to emphasize form, line and color.
Freakebana is an ultra-modern tongue-in-cheek reaction to Ikebana. It substitutes years of study with naive new-wave naturalism. The components are more likely foraged from the supermarket as opposed to a Shinto garden. Kosen Ohtsubo will always be an inspiration.

In this workshop, we will start off with a bit of the background of Ikebana and its rich history and variations. We also take a look at contemporary versions and check out a few examples of Freakebana. Then we dig in. Each participant will have the use of a kenzan*, a variety of vessels and plenty of fruit, flowers, veggies and more to work with. The end results may be brought home.
